Dave Nevison’s top horse racing tips for Tuesday

Our betting expert has a couple of fancies at Lingfield, plus another at Newcastle.

11.40 Lingfield: Owen Little

He beat Smith by a head at Kempton last time and meets that rival, who has since franked the form by going one better, on 1lb worse terms.

Given that Owen Little is the lightly raced three-year-old in this line up, then it is not unreasonable to expect him to progress further and beat his rival more convincingly this time around. Owen Little certainly seems to have appreciated this step up 2m and gets on well with his 3lb claimer.

3.15 Lingfield: Laurentia

Is well-handicapped again now, being 11lb below her last winning mark, and seems to have hit form on her past two starts at Chelmsford, so can get back to winning ways in a weak race.

She had a bit of a winning spree when landing four races last year, including over course and distance, but has been running over trips shorter than ideal recently and the return to a mile seems to have suited her recently. Dean Ivory has his yard in good form.

3.45 Newcastle: Lost My Sock

Has won off 6lb higher than he is on Tuesday, and been placed over this course and distance off a mark of 77, so his chance is obvious, especially as his run last time signalled a return to form.

A fast-run 5f is ideal and that is very likely on this occasion given the number of pace pushers in the field. This track clearly suits him very well and, though he is closely matched with rivals he met last time, he can come out on top if back to his best.
