Fresh from tipping three winners - from three selections - our betting expert another three fancies for the meetings at Nottingham and Chelmsford which you can enjoy live on Racing TV.
The summer of small-field handicaps continues on Tuesday evening, so it will be a quiet start to the week for me but hopefully the trio below will go well.
5.45 Nottingham: Abate
Is back down to a grade he always runs well in and is up against only four rivals – having faced between 12 and 18 opponents in his past three starts. That might just enable him to get a confidence boosting win here.
He seems very likely to get to the lead, which should suit, and he has run well at Nottingham in the past.
6.45 Nottingham: De Mazzaro
Has been involved in two close finishes on his return to the Flat after a few poor efforts over fences.
He won by a neck at Musselburgh last time, and but probably should have won on his penultimate start at Beverley, too, when maybe hitting the front too early and being beaten a neck.
The handicapper has raised him just 3lb for his recent win, which looks lenient, and the step up to 14 furlongs here also promises to suit.
He has been doing all his best work in the latter stages of his races and will be suited by the long Nottingham straight. He has his third different jockey in three runs on the Flat but looks uncomplicated and, provided Phil Dennis holds him up off what seems likely to be a strong pace, he should oblige again.
7.35 Chelmsford: Epidemic
He was beaten 4½ lengths off a 1lb lower mark at Pontefract last time but it was still a good effort, as he simply went too fast on testing ground and didn’t have enough left for the stiff finish.
He has bagged the number 1 stall for this 10f handicap, which is perfect for his front-running style. Provided he acts on the surface and doesn’t get into a battle up front with other well-drawn pacesetters, then he should go close.
