The Racing TV cameras will be at Redcar on Thursday and our betting expert has three selections for the meeting.
1.45 Redcar: Oh So Hot
Adrian Nicholls dropped this recent acquisition from Ireland to sprinting last time and it looked a good move as she seemed to run her best race since joining the yard.
She finished second to Point of Woods after being up with the pace throughout over Thursday’s course and distance. She will not have to improve much on that run to win this numerically strong but quality weak handicap.
Oh So Hot meets the winner on 1lb worse time but Point of Woods is far from consistent nowadays, whereas Oh So Hot has been very reliable since joining Nicholls. Her trainer has shown himself very adept at getting wins from modest horses picked up from other trainers and the yard is going well at present.
3.20 Redcar: Scottish Summit
Has been languishing off this mark all this season and for the most part running well enough to suggest when things fall right he can win.
Last time might well have been his turn had he got the rub of the green over a mile at York, when he ended up being beaten just over half a length in third.
Thursday’s race looks like being run at a strong pace, which should be ideal given this is over 7f. He has won twice at Redcar before and never finished worse than fourth at the track and I think in a fast run race he can handle this slight drop in trip.
4.53 Redcar: Rainbow’s Gift
Definitely came up against an improver for the grade at Carlisle last time but there is no such progressive horse in this line up.
I am loathe to desert Di Mazzaro, who has done me a favour twice recently, but I am worried he might just be a little keen in a race likely to lack pace.
Rainbow’s Gift seems to settle OK whether making the running or held. He is quite lightly raced and has run well on his recent starts.
