Our pundit and resident website tipster Dave Nevison shares his three top tips for Nottingham and Huntingdon in his first column of the week. Enjoy more Tuesday action from Killarney and Sligo live on Racing TV and Racing TV Extra.
2.40 Nottingham: Yagood
In a really competitive handicap, Yagood looks a good proposition to get into the frame at least.
This most consistent handicapper won three times last season - including over this course and distance - and signalled his turn was close again last time when beaten a neck in second at Doncaster. He needs a strong pace and enjoys the long straight of Nottingham, and hopefully this decent-sized field should ensure a good gallop.
Yagood still looks fairly handicapped despite all the wins and the booking of Jamie Spencer takes the eye here. The jockey rode a winner for the in-form trainer at Doncaster on Saturday.
6.47 Huntingdon: True Romance
Neil Mulholland has his string in excellent form so it is worth taking a chance that True Romance will be fully fit after an absence.
The trainer has definitely improved True Romance and it is likely the seven-year-old still has further upside in him after just one run for the yard over hurdles where he finished a good second. He hit the front fully two out in that race and can likely do better if held up as long as possible.
True Romance has been largely consistent for the yard on his Flat runs and I am hoping for a positive market indicator now.
7.17 Huntingdon: Gouet Des Bruyeres
He is likely to get his own way in front and that might enable him to get another win on the board.
Gouet Des Bruyeres is 8lbs lower than he was at the end of last year but has generally run pretty consistently and posted a good effort after a three-month break last time out.
He is often ridden by an amateur in his races but capable 7lb claimer in Toby Wynne is back on board now. Wynne was in the saddle for Gouet Des Bruyeres’ latest win, which came off a 1lb-higher mark back in September.
