Dave Nevison's free horse racing tips for Wednesday

Was improving at the end of last season, winning over 2m 6f at Hereford in April before finishing runner-up over 3m at Newcastle.

He reappeared recently, over 2½ miles, and ran with promise to be third, looking like a stayer who would progress again back up in trip, which he gets here. He has been left on the same mark for this conditionals’ event and Toby Wynne, who has pretty much become first jockey for the Greenall yard this season, claims a valuable extra 3lb riding for his own stable. Post Chaise looks a solid option here.

He’s an interesting recruit for the Venetia Williams yard, having missed all last season and previously been in the care of Nick Williams. It is interesting the trainer runs two in this veterans ‘chase with the top weight, Kim Muir winner Chambard, turning out under normal jockey Lucy Turner.

I have no qualms about either being unfit but it is the booking of Charlie Deutsch and the fact that Coo Star Sivola is off his lowest handicap mark over fences that sways me.

He has not won a race since winning the Ultima at the Cheltenham Festival in 2018, after which he went up to 150, but he now runs off 134, which could be an insult. The yard has had three winners from its past ten runners, which is another positive.

Is still a maiden but his best runs have come on the all-weather and he has slipped to his lowest mark here. He arrives on the back of possibly a career-best at Wolverhampton last time, when finishing runner up to the progressive Stonking.

The blinkers he wore for that race are persevered with and, if they continue to work, he should be able to break his duck in this modest event.
