The Tingle Creek Festival gets under way with a £140,000 card on Friday and our pundit Dave Nevison shares his three best bets from Sandown. Enjoy every moment live on Racing TV and Racing TV Extra.

12.45 Sandown: Boughtbeforelunch

He would have finished a good second behind a well-backed handicap blot last time but for falling two from home.

Boughtbeforelunch ran a very good second behind a revitalised teenager in this race last season and, while he’s finished runner-up a bit too often, he did go on to win at Ludlow in May. That was similarly under Gina Andrews and he is only 4lb higher now.

His recent unflattering form figures will hopefully mean he is an each-way price and he has long been a placepot banker.

3.00 Sandown: Desque De L’Isle

Jockey Ned Fox will be keen to make an impression and he has been given a real opportunity here.

The rider has moved from Ryan Potter - where he was doing well and getting plenty of rides - to Venetia Williams and might have won on his first ride for his new boss but for being unseated two-out at Wetherby three weeks ago.

Desque De L’Isle has gone up 10lb for an impressive win last time, and while he only won by 1 ½ lengths he was on the bridle going past the line and the handicapper is right to give him a big raise.

His front-running style will stand him in good stead around Sandown and Fox takes off exactly 10lb. Venetia Williams has her string in the best of form.

3.35 Sandown: Pileon

He is clearly well-handicapped and trainer Philip Hobbs is in very good form.

Pileon didn’t enjoy chasing in two attempts early last season but ran well enough returned to hurdles in a competitive Cheltenham event last April, definitely his best run in a disappointing campaign.

He reverted to this longer trip on his return at Aintree last time and made a much better start, promising a decent campaign.

Ben Jones has not won aboard Pileon yet, but the pair were only just pipped at the post in the Martin Pipe at the Cheltenham Festival 18 months ago.
