1.20 Leicester: Green Or Black

She might be worth a small bet at decent odds.

Green Or Black was formerly consistent if modest but has been tumbling down the weights recently. While clearly not at her best, she didn’t run too badly last time at Doncaster in a similar race to this. That was over three miles and she doesn’t stay that trip.

Green Or Black ran a bit better still over this trip at Catterick on her penultimate start and off a 9lbs higher mark than her current rating.

She appeals more for place than win purposes, but unless she’s on a terminal decline Green Or Black is definitely well enough weighted here to show up well.

1.50 Leicester: Coupdebol

Off a very low mark, Coupdebol is worth risking on chase debut in a really modest race.

I am hoping the “bounce factor” might go some way to explaining his poor effort last time and, if a line is put through that, I can see some promise on his return after two years off at Newbury last month.

A 33/1 shot in a half-decent novices’ hurdle, Coupdebol stayed on quite nicely over the minimum trip and certainly looked as though he was likely to improve for a step up in trip. He gets that here and his pedigree is all about stamina, while he is related to some good chasers.

3.20 Leicester: Silent Assistant

I believe that he has a class advantage off a mark of 109 if he continues to make progress over fences.

Silent Assistant hasn’t won a race under Rules but this winning pointer looks to be running into form over fences this season, going by his decent effort at Plumpton last time out.

He runs off a much lower mark in handicap chases than he did over hurdles and Silent Assassin did look as though he could win off a mark in the mid 120s on a couple of occasions.

Trainer Emma Lavelle is in very good form at present and looks to have got Silent Assistant in the right here. The eight-year-old might be the solid option in the lowest grade handicap he has yet to run in.
