Our resident website tipster Dave Nevison goes around the grounds for his three fancies on Wednesday, including from Chester for the first day of their May meeting. Enjoy a Listed double-header from Gowran and action from Kelso and Kempton live on Racing TV and Racing TV Extra.
Pundits are of mixed opinions about the price of Luxembourg for the Cazoo Derby after his placed effort in the Qipco 2000 Guineas last weekend. The Classic trail moves on to Chester and Lingfield in the coming days, and personally I wouldn’t be surprised if Luxembourg is even shorter by the end of this week as I believe he ran very well at Newmarket.
Here are my three for Wednesday.
She spent most of the winter running from way out of the handicap in races she could not win, but once she was put into races where she actually had a chance she has very much taken her opportunities – most especially at this track.
Lissen To The Lady is up 9lb for her last-time out success but she scored by nine lengths on the bridle that day and, with conditions to suit once again, I expect another good show at least.
She gets on very well with her 5lbs-claiming amateur and the eight-year-old might still have improvement in her.
A return to seven furlongs off a much lower mark might bring about a change in fortune.
Roman Dynasty ran consistently well over this trip on turf around this time last year and was running off much higher marks at that time. His better runs have come when ridden up with the pace and, from a good draw in stall 2, should be able to hold his position.
He might be a value price to land this in a field of exposed handicappers and trainer Joseph Parr certainly hit form in the last week of April.
Silvestre De Sousa may be the perfect jockey for this four-year-old, who is just the sort of slightly tricky type that the rider excels on.
Follow Your Heart has been beaten five times since he won in very good style over course and distance back in December but has largely performed well in his races since. He has gone particularly well on both runs for his new trainer and might just have been stretched by seven furlongs on soft ground at Leicester last time.
Follow Your Heart will be happier back at Kempton and hopefully De Sousa can get him in front again.
