Dave Nevison: my three horse racing tips for Wednesday

Our pundit and resident website tipster Dave Nevison thinks two jumpers and an all-weather runner can go well on Wednesday. Enjoy all the action from Ludlow, Fairyhouse and Kempton Park live on Racing TV.

Unfortunately we have no eight-runner handicaps at Ludlow, so I am going to have a look at Kempton and Southwell for a few bets which will definitely be to a small outlay. Good luck.

2.05 Southwell: Here We Have It

While he is 4lbs worse off for beating Treshnish just 1 ½ lengths last time, I am reasonably convinced that Here We Have It is the more accomplished chaser.

The weight pull might make it tougher here, but he certainly seems to be the one least likely to make a significant mistake and he gets on well with regular rider Lewis Dobb, who won on him last time. Clearly, course and distance suit him perfectly well.

Treshnish has run reasonably well subsequently since their December meeting, but once again there were jumping issues and at the age of 10 it seems unlikely he is set to improve in that department. I’m sticking with the top-weight.

2.40 Southwell: Sorceress Medea

The booking of Brian Hughes really takes the eye for this mare on stable debut for Laura Morgan.

Sorceress Medea was upped in trip on her latest two runs for Fergal O’Brien but it certainly didn’t bring about any improvement and the step back down to the minimum distance could well put her back on track.

Sorceress Medea ran well at this track in two bumpers last term and goes okay here, so she has a few pointers in her favour in this modest mares’ handicap.

6.30 Kempton: First Company

I backed him to get into an extra place last time and he just delivered under Billy Loughnane when staying on at one pace into fourth. First Company had tumbled down the weights during the season prior to that and the signs were definitely promising that the rot had been stopped.

He doesn’t have the wonderkid on board this time, but has dropped another 1lb down the weights and finds himself in a race set to be run at a charge so he could well improve again under Daniel Muscutt.

Muscutt has ridden a couple winners for this yard recently and both trainer and jockey are in decent form.
