Betting expert Dave Nevison found another 5/1 winner on Tuesday and has more suggestions for the midweek action. Watch live on Racing TV.

1.17 Ayr: Rocco Storm

Rocco Storm somehow managed to get himself ridiculously well handicapped ahead of his switch to chasing and he couldn’t help but win a couple of races over the larger obstacles if he took to them

He duly did and won two races very easily at Hexham and Sedgefield in the Autumn. He won off a higher mark over course and distance last time out and certainly didn’t look as though his run was over, so even off a rating nearly two stone higher than he initially won off, I believe he has a favourite’s chance of scoring again.

Lots of rain is forecast ahead of this race but he won on heavy last time, so that isn’t a concern.

2.25 Ayr: El Poppochapo

Stephen Connor rides plenty for Stuart Crawford and up until recently, most of his mounts have been sent off at massive odds, but he was sent to Ayr to ride a winner in November last year and has a good chance of landing another victory aboard this mare.

El Poppochapo is bred to be a stayer (her dam is related to a useful four-mile chaser) so the step up in trip looks set to suit her well.

The selection seemed to respond well to the application of cheekpieces and doesn’t look too harshly weighted for her first run in a handicap, while the 7lb Connor claims will certainly help at the end of three miles.

3.00 Ayr: Donna’s Double

He’s won a bumper, a hurdle and, last time out, won a chase at this track plus has very few miles on the clock, so he definitely has scope to improve past some exposed types here.

He looked as though he would be suited by this step up in trip when last seen having taken up the running between the last two before being driven clear after the last.

He showed more pace than runner-up High Moon, who reopposes here, but doesn’t have a great amount of pace by comparison the Donna’s Double, and a pull in the weights won’t help, either.

Donna’s Double is back up 4lb but that looks very manageable for what I believe is a progressive young chaser.
