Betting expert Dave Nevison marks your card for the action at Ayr on Wednesday, live on Racing TV.
2.50 Ayr: Dream Deal
Linda Perratt’s Nazca is the key contender here, but he is very much unproven on turf, and it may be better to bet around him, and the consistent
Dream Deal definitely has each-way appeal.
I am sure this five-year-old will come on for his reappearance effort a month ago. The 5f trip is too sharp for him, but he showed up well enough at Catterick to suggest he can strike again this season.
Dream Deal did not have the cheekpieces on last time, and they are reapplied here, along with his normal tongue tie, so it seems very likely Danny Brooke has him primed for a good run in this.
3.20 Ayr: Heartache Tonight
This looks a very good bit of placing by trainer David Menuisier to get Heartache Tonight, who performs very well in Group One and Two company, into a Listed race for older mare’s without a penalty.
Menuisier has his string in terrific form and had a winner for us at Newbury last week before winning the German 2000 Guineas at the weekend.
Heartache Tonight performed consistently all last season and showed she still had plenty of ability on her reappearance when finishing fourth in the Group Two Dahlia Stakes at the Guineas meeting at Newmarket.
The ground might be a bit quick for her, as I write on Tuesday, but there's heavy rain around over the next 24 hours, so it could come further in her favour.
If she does come on for her reappearance, she is very favourably treated in this.
3.50 Ayr: Garden Oasis
There are some in-form contenders in this competitive handicap, but Garden Oasis ran a promising race on his reappearance, and he might have slipped down to a mark he can win off now, despite his advancing years.
He broke well and led the field until close home at Pontefract and seemed to really enjoy himself out in front.
Tim Easterby’s old favourite is back to the course and distance where he last won a race and is now 6lb lower in the weights. All going comes alike to him and I am expecting a decent run.
