Connections are hopeful
Easysland will be able to bid to regain his Glenfarclas Chase crown at
Cheltenham after it was revealed the eight-year-old has recovered from injury and joined Jonjo O’Neill’s stable.
Easysland was trained in France by David Cottin when he defeated dual
Grand National hero Tiger Roll by 17 lengths at the 2020 Festival (watch below). He has been beaten in both his runs since, including the cross-country event last year when Tiger Roll took his revenge.
However, Easysland suffered a setback while on his summer break at his owner JP McManus’ Martinstown Stud in County Limerick and has recently moved to O’Neill’s base at Jackdaws Castle.

16:10 Cheltenham - Wednesday March 11
“He hasn’t been in France since he ran last. He’s gone over to Jonjo’s from Martinstown. He’s got good facilities and hopefully, if he can keep him sound, he’ll get to the cross country,” said McManus’ racing manager Frank Berry.
“We’ll try to get a race into him before Cheltenham if it’s possible. He’s only been over at Jonjo’s a couple of weeks.
“He had plenty of issues, but he’s sound now and it’s a case of keeping him sound. Hopefully he’ll get there with a bit of luck.”
The McManus team are awaiting the arrival of another French import
Prengarde, who has been bought out of Guillaume Macaire and Hector de Lageneste’s yard to join Enda Bolger in Co. Limerick.
The six-year-old has been quoted as low as 4-1 for the cross country at the Festival but as yet connections have not mapped out a programme.
“I can’t tell you much about him. He’ll be on his way from France and is going to Enda Bolger, but I can’t say what the plans are because we haven’t got him on board yet,” said Berry.
“We are waiting for him, and he’s only turned six, so we have no plans at the minute. We will see how he settles in and how everything goes.”
Prengarde has won his last five races over fences, all at Compiegne, culminating in a Listed contest on his latest start in November.
Doctor Steinberg maintained his perfect record over hurdles with a comprehensive victory in the Nathaniel Lacy & Partners Solicitors Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown.
Hot on the heels of wins at Galway and Navan, where he accounted for subsequent Grade Two winner Thedeviluno, the Willie Mullins-trained Doctor Dino gelding again demonstrated his liking for obstacles when galloping home eight lengths clear in the hands of Paul Townend.
Yeshil made the early running, but the 7-4 favourite took up the running two out and quickly put the race to bed, with Kazansky staying on for second.

Fact To File bounced back to form to lift the Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup, with stablemate Galopin Des Champs having to settle for a gallant third place in his bid to land the Leopardstown showpiece for the fourth year in a row.
A dual Cheltenham Gold Cup winner and victorious in the Dublin Racing Festival feature in each of the past three seasons, Galopin Des Champs was the 15-8 favourite to match the feat of another Willie Mullins-trained superstar in Florida Pearl, who claimed four renewals between 1999 and 2004.
The 10-year-old suffered his first defeat in eight starts over fences at Leopardstown when third in his bid for a third Savills Chase in late December, but as that was his belated seasonal reappearance improvement was expected under Paul Townend.
After tracking Savills Chase winner Affordale Fury for much of the way, Galopin Des Champs jumped to the front four fences from home – drawing a cheer from the crowd – but was quickly joined by Monty’s Star and Fact To File, who was bidding to put a disappointing run in the King George at Kempton on Boxing Day behind him.
Another Mullins runner in Gaelic Warrior threw his hat into the ring from the home turn, but 9-2 shot Fact To File was travelling much the best under Mark Walsh and kept up the gallop to score by five lengths.
Gaelic Warrior was a clear second, with Galopin Des Champs narrowly beating Firefox to third to give the champion trainer a one-two-three. Reigning Cheltenham hero Inothewayurthinkin was tired faller at the last, but was able to walk away.

Only three runners but still a thrilling finish - Romeo Coolio was made to fight for victory in the 2026 Goffs Irish Arkle Novice Chase at Leopardstown.
Gordon Elliott’s 4-9 favourite was one of only three horses in the two-mile-one-furlong Grade One event, with the outsider Downmexicoway detached from an early stage.
It was effectively a match between the market leader and the Willie Mullins-trained mare Kargese, with Romeo Coolio eventually getting on top in the hands of Jack Kennedy, only for Kargese to rally under Paul Townend and close right to the line, which in her case came half a length too soon.

Narciso Has took the next step in his promising early career with victory in the 2026 Gannon’s City Recovery & Recycling Services Juvenile Hurdle at Leopardstown.
The Willie Mullins-trained four-year-old was ridden by Mark Walsh for owner JP McManus as the even-money favourite and was always positioned to the fore in the two-mile Grade One.
As the field neared the closing stages he pulled into a considerable lead and was in no danger of being caught, securing a four-and-a-half-length win from stablemate Selma De Vary, who caught the eye coming out of the pack and would have finished closer but for a clumsy jump at the last.

There was a dramatic conclusion to the Coolmore N.H. Sires Los Angeles Irish EBF Mares I.N.H. Flat Race with amateur rider Stephen Connor given a 14-day suspension after mistaking the winning post on Royal Hillsborough, allowing Moonverrin to get back up and win.
Martin Hassett’s 20-1 shot Moonverrin looked set to secure an authoritative success in the Grade Two finale after being pushed into the lead by Finian Maguire, but soon began to wander under pressure.
Royal Hillsborough, a 9-1 chance trained by Stuart Crawford, was able to close the gap and edged to the front inside the final furlong, but Connor stopped riding passing the 50-yard marker, giving Moonverrin another bite of the cherry and she was able to get back up and score by a short head.
Brendan Campbell, representing the owners of Royal Hillsborough, told Racing Post: "That's life and stuff like that happens in life sometimes."

"I feel so sorry for him, but he's human and humans make mistakes." That was the verdict of ex-jockey and Racing TV pundit Ruby Walsh after jockey Stephen Connor mistook the 50-metres-out marker for the winning post and eased his mount down prematurely in the race that closed the 2026 Dublin Racing Festival, the Coolmore NH Sires Los Angeles Irish EBF Mares INH Flat Race - worth €59,000 to the winner.
The error allowed Moonverrin and Finny Maguire to regain the advantage and claim success in the Grade Two contest.
The stewards banned the jockey who made the mistake for 14 racedays on the back of the offence.

Brightedaysahead turned the tables on Lossiemouth to claim top honours in the 2026 Timeless Sash Windows Irish Champion Hurdle. The Willie Mullins-trained Lossiemouth had come finished in front when the pair met for the first time in Leopardstown’s December Hurdle late last month and she was the 4-6 favourite to confirm her superiority in their Dublin Racing Festival rematch.
However, Brighterdaysahead (11-4) was entitled to improve from what was her first start of the season following an autumn setback and took her revenge in the hands of Jack Kennedy.Lossiemouth’s stablemate El Fabiolo led the five-strong field for much of the two-mile journey, with Brighterdaysahead always his nearest pursuer while Paul Townend did not appear entirely happy on board the market leader racing down the back straight in third.
With El Fabiolo falling away, Lossiemouth did manage close the gap on Brighterdaysahead rounding the home turn, but Gordon Elliott’s mare finished the stronger in the testing conditions and was three and a quarter lengths in front at the line.
