1.10 Cheltenham: Weveallbeencaught

lost his way with Nigel Twiston-Davies over fences last season after looking like he would develop into very good staying chaser.
Maybe he was too highly tried in Graded company and he certainly seemed to appreciate having his sights lowered on his first start for Christian Williams last time.
He finished third in a Novices' Chase at Worcester, only seeming to weaken between the last two fences. He is dropped back down to the shortest trip he has run over for a while here, but 2m4f is the furthest distance he has scored over, so it could well be the trip will suit him.
Most of his outings have been at Cheltenham, so the course won’t present any problems for him, and although Christian Williams has only had one winner in October, he has had several run well in the past week or so, and definitely has his team in good form.
In a much lower grade handicap than he has contested previously, Weveallbeencaught looks to have an opportunity to make a quick impact in his new yard.

2.20 Cheltenham: Chasing Fire

was a win machine at the start of his career when winning a bumper and three hurdles in his first four starts.
He also started his chasing career with a win in a three-runner novice event at Uttoxeter, but lost his way after that until he was upped in distance a couple of starts ago.
He finished a good second over 2m5½f at Kelso but then impressed with a really assured round of jumping at Perth when last seen in April.
As long as he hasn’t regressed during the summer, which seems unlikely given the form of the Olly Murphy yard, he looks as though he might be one to keep on the right side in decent staying handicaps this season.

2.55 Cheltenham: Idem

Lucinda Russell is not afraid of bringing her horses to Cheltenham and has a fair degree of success there. It is probably a mark of the regard Idem is held in that she sends the six-year-old down here for this competitive Pertemps Qualifier.
He is a real stayer who wasn’t quick enough to win a bumper but was placed four times before being switched to hurdles where he has improved with pretty much each run, and every time he has stepped up in trip.
He reappeared a month ago at Perth and produced his best performance, and possibly would have won but for a mistake at the second last.
The selection has been raised 3lb for that outing but if he comes on a little for that effort, he should be able to figure here at a price. Patrick Wadge taking 3lb off is another positive.

3.20 Kelso: Ninetofive

has been absent for 18 months and I will be keeping a watchful eye on the market in this big-field handicap, especially as trainer Sandy Thomson has another fancied runner in the race.
Ninetofive has shown plenty of promise on more than one occasion over hurdles, and ran his best race when second beaten just ¾ of a length over this trip at Hexham in March 2023.
He finished lame on his latest start two months later and hasn’t been seen since, but is definitely very well handicapped on his best form.
Thomson rarely leaves Kelso without success and I think Ninetofive is a very interesting runner both for Saturday, and the weeks ahead.
