The Cambridgeshire Meeting gets under way on the Rowley Mile on Thursday and our resident website tipster Dave Nevison likes three runners on day one. Enjoy every moment live on Racing TV.
3.00 Newmarket: Frankness
Frankness did us a favour when winning last time and may be best served by the likely very fast pace here in his follow-up bid.
This improving three-year-old meets runner-up Al Simmo once again but now has to overcome a 3lb swing in the weights for a victory by a length at Salisbury. Even though he took it up close to the line there, he did it comfortably and I feel he can confirm the form on these revised terms.
Newmarket is not set to get any rain ahead of Thursday with a dry forecast on the day of racing too, so ground conditions will be ideal.
4.45 Newmarket: Spectacular Style
The Frankel colt certainly lived up to his name when bolting up by 20 lengths at Hamilton last time and he looks to have been given a very workable mark on handicap debut.
Spectacular Style is a well-bred and very expensive purchase and one who is really bred to appreciate this mile-and-a-half trip. The win last time – his first try at the distance - probably didn’t even prove his stamina so he’s unexposed and it looks very likely he will appreciate a genuine test at the trip.
David Egan keeps the ride and Roger Varian remains in excellent form.
5.18 Newmarket: Value Added
Value Added has generously been dropped 2lb for a good run when finishing fourth at Salisbury last time and she can capitalise on that unnecessary move.
The royal-owned filly is dropped in trip and she is very likely to be up with or making the pace – indeed, she made all to win on her last start in novice company at Wolverhampton in July. The Rowley Mile is the perfect track for such tactics and she looks set to run a good race.
Richard Hughes has his runners in great form at present.
