Borice spearheads Gordon Elliott’s potential 12-strong Troytown team

Thu 7 Nov 2019

Galway Plate winner Borice heads Gordon Elliott’s 12-strong team for the Ladbrokes Troytown Chase at Navan on November 24.

Elliott has a good record in the major handicap and but could not make it a fifth successive win in the race last year, with Noel Meade’s Tout Est Permis triumphing.

Balbriggan, Riverside City, Empire Of Dirt and Mala Beach all came home first and the Cullentra handler is targeting more glory.

Elliott said: “We’ll support Navan throughout the season and we have a good few to run in the Ladbrokes Troytown Chase.

“Borice won the Galway Plate and I said straight after that the Troytown is a race I like to win. It’s our local track and I’d say we’ll go straight there with him.

“Ravenhill was second in the Kerry National and the same again – we said we’d go there with him as well.

“I thought Roaring Bull ran very well last week against Champagne Classic and he could be one off a nice weight.

“The Big Lense was unseated in the Munster National and is a nice horse. We have 12 in the race and probably whatever gets into the handicap will run. It’s a big pot and a great race to win.”

There are 37 entries which include Discorama, last year’s runner-up Mr Diablo and a sole entry from Britain, Neil Mulholland’s Shantou Village.
