Blue Bolt likely to face strong opposition in Sun Chariot

Blue Bolt will attempt to go one better than 12 months ago and keep her phenomenal 2026 winning run going in the BetMGM Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.
Second to an on-song Fallen Angel on the Rowley Mile last year, Andrew Balding’s four-year-old has improved tenfold since, racking up a five-race unbeaten sequence that includes a win at Royal Ascot with her last three victories all coming at Group One level.
Barry Mahon, European racing manager for Juddmonte, said: “The plan is the Sun Chariot and she’s in good shape and Andrew is happy with her. All being well she will be there.
“I think last year finishing second in it was her emergence into the Group One sphere and we were knocking on the door. She has done nothing but improve since then and it would be nice to go back and go one better if we can.
“As always I’m sure it will be a good race, but she has done nothing wrong all year and if she is in the same form, hopefully she will be OK.”
The Blue Point filly was one of 12 to confirm on Monday, with Ballydoyle master Aidan O’Brien entering Precise and True Love.
Another Irish raider comes in the form of Paddy Twomey’s City Of Memphis, whose only defeat this season came against Blue Bolt in the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown earlier this month.
Karl Burke is also double-handed with last year’s winner Fallen Angel and Evolutionist, Atalanta Stakes winner Love Dynasty goes for Kevin Ryan and Sceptre Fillies’ Stakes victor Pina Sonata lines up for James Fanshawe.
Jane Chapple-Hyam’s Kon Tiki, the Owen Burrows-trained Calendar Girl, Moon Target, trained by Sir Mark Prescott and Ralph Beckett’s Secret Of Life complete the list.
