Benatar and Fountains Windfall in frame for Scilly Isles at Sandown

Mon 29 Jan 2018

Benatar and Fountains Windfall feature amongst 11 entries for the Betfred TV Scilly Isles Novices' Chase at Sandown on Saturday.

The Gary Moore-trained Benatar is unbeaten in three starts since having his attentions turned to jumping fences, most recently seeing off Finian's Oscar in a Grade Two at Ascot in December.

He could step up to Grade One level for the first time over larger obstacles in this two-and-a-half-mile contest.

Anthony Honeyball's Fountains Windfall looked poised to strike Grade One gold in the Kauto Star Novices' Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day until falling four fences from the finish.

The eight-year-old proved he had suffered no ill effects from the spill when bolting up on his return to the Sunbury venue earlier this month and will be a major contender if taking up his weekend engagement.

Barney Dwan won the EBF Final at Sandown two years ago and could return to the track off the back of a facile success at Market Rasen.

Other contenders include the Paul Nicholls-trained Cyrname, Neil Mulholland's Kalondra, Le Rocher from Nick Williams' yard and Nicky Henderson's Terrefort.

The Storyteller, trained by Gordon Elliott, is the sole Irish contender.
