Ryan Moore is warm favourite to secure his sixth Racing TV Qatar Goodwood Festival Top Jockey Award this week.
The leading jockey over the five-day festival, which starts on Tuesday, will receive a subscription to Racing TV, a £1,000 donation to the charity of his/her choice, and a deluxe Goodwood hamper.
Moore will be bidding for his fourth award in a row, having partnered five winners last year, and sixth in total. Last year, he donated his award to Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Dettori was top jockey at Royal Ascot and looks the jockey to follow at Goodwood (PA)
Seb Vance, Racing TV’s Director of Communications, said: “This will be the tenth consecutive year Racing UK, and now Racing TV, has sponsored the Qatar Goodwood Festival Top Jockey Award. We are always keen to support the real ambassadors of our sport and this is one of the most prestigious jockey prizes.”
Frankie Dettori is the 9-4 secnd favourite, with James Doyle quoted at 11-2. Silvestre De Sousa is 10-1, with Oisin Murphy and Andea Atzeni called up at 12-1.
The remainder are at least 16-1, with Danny Tudhope, who is leading the jockeys’ championship, available at 25-1.
Moore will be aboard Aidan O’Brien’s principal hopes, including Circus Maximus in the Qatar Sussex Stakes on Wednesday and Hermosa in the Qatar Nassau Stakes on Thursday.
His other high-profile mounts include such as Zaaki and Jubiloso for Sir Michael Stoute, but he seems to be lacking "bankers" and whether he warrants being as short as 11-8 is open to question.
The 9-4 about the red-hot Dettori, who was top jockey at Royal Ascot last month and seems to be winning every other Group One race this summer, makes more appeal.
Stradivarius is among Dettori
He has 69 Qatar Goodwood Festival winners to his name - 23 more than Moore - and could get off to a flyer on Tuesday as his excellent book of first-day rides include Visinari, Hey Gaman, Stradivarius and Cobra Eye. All four are favourite or second favourite for their respective race.
And in the final race he rides Savaanagh for Roger Charlton. In his blog for Ladbrokes, Dettori said: “She is from Prince Faisal, the owner of Coronet. The fact he [Charlton] booked me a while ago says that she must have a good chance.”
On Wednesday, Dettori will partner another short-priced favourite in Too Darn Hot in the Qatar Sussex Stakes plus the well-fancied Maven in the Markel Insurance Molecomb.
William Hill are much more cautious about Dettori, making him Evens to win the title for a fifth time, and Moore 15-8.
Racing TV (Sky 426, Virgin 536 and 411, Freeview 261) is the only channel to see all 35 races live from the Qatar Goodwood Festival and will be on air, with Mark Your Card on from 11am each day.
Racing TV Qatar Goodwood Festival Top Jockey: Betfair bet: 11-8 Ryan Moore, 9-4 Frankie Dettori, 11-2 James Doyle, 10-1 Silvestre De Sousa, 12-1 Oisin Murphy, Andrea Atzeni, 16-1 Adam Kirby, 25-1 Daniel Tudhope.
