Angus McNae's top tips for Thursday: Make a note of Yes You

I have four selections this week for you divided between Doncaster and Hamilton.

2.25 Doncaster: Dubai Beauty

Saeed Bin Suroor has won this May Hill Stakes on two occasions and he can record another victory here.

Anyone who studies race times will be all over this Frankel filly given her impressive win at Newmarket on her debut.

She beat a decent filly who had previous experience and did so in fine style, posting a very good Timeform speed figure of 99. There is clearly a lot of improvement to come and she should be hard to beat.

3.00 Doncaster: Pilaster

This is one of the most progressive fillies in training. She was hugely impressive two starts ago when she won at Kempton and confirmed that promise when landing the Group Two Lillie Langtry at Goodwood.

She won that race in a fast time and if she doesn’t bounce here she is undoubtedly the one to beat. The St Leger meeting is one that trainer Roger Varian and jockey Andrea Atzeni have a good record at and another decent winner beckons.

6.25 Hamilton: Baronial Pride

This horse is a soft ground winner at Hamilton and a return to the venue on easy ground could see him back in the winner’s enclosure.

This will be the first time he has encountered soft ground since his winning debut and his pedigree screams that he wants this surface.

He is by Mayson out of a Captain Rio mare, both of whom are massive influences for soft ground. He didn’t run at all badly on decent ground at Ripon last time, despite missing the break and finding trouble, so he is clearly in good form and on this surface I expect a big effort.

6.55 Hamilton: Yes You

Yes You has shown that he is most effective with some give in the ground and was a good winner at Thirsk recently.

He carries a 6lb penalty but looks up to defying it. Nuns Walk and Beauty Filly are live dangers but Yes You is in great heart for the in form team of Ian Jardine and Jamie Gormley and I will be backing him with confidence.
