Our presenter and Sunday columnist Angus McNae shares his four fancies on a quality card at Naas. Enjoy every moment live on Racing TV. Sunday is fairly low-key with Cheltenham looming on the horizon, but Naas stages a very good card with two Graded races and I have four selections.
He is a good bet to make all the running given that he looks to be the only front-runner here back down to two miles.
Blackbow featured in this column last-time out in a competitive handicap at the Dublin Racing Festival. He finished in fifth behind Birchdale, seemingly not staying the two-and-a half-mile trip.
His stable companion Cash Back is a danger, but is often let down by his jumping and Blackbow is a more solid option.
He was impressive when winning at Fairyhouse in a fast time last-time out and this stiff track should suit this strong-staying type.
Flame Bearer is likely to get a good lead from his main market rival Ha D’Or and then his stamina should see him prevail up this stiff uphill finish.
Flame Bearer looks throughly progressive and open to a good deal of improvement ahead of just his fourth start over hurdles. At a guide price of 5/2 in this small field he represents the value play in this decent Grade 2 contest.
Fairly useful on the level for Andre Fabre, this new recruit to hurdling could be a useful prospect for Willie Mullins despite a two year lay-off.
I never worry about horses from this yard after a break and the fact that he holds an entry in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle suggests he is quite well thought of.
Bring On The Night stayed 12 furlongs on the Flat and therefore the two miles here will be no problem. There may be plenty of runners in this race, but it is short on quality and this newcomer can take advantage.
Barry Connell has his horses in good form and Big King is worth chancing at 16/1.
He was a bit unlucky last time when he failed to get a run at a crucial time in a slowly-run contest and was not subjected to a hard race. That was his first run for 98 days and he should come on for that.
Big King has run well here before on testing ground and with his trainer having won with three of his last four runners a big run can be expected in this competitive handicap.
