Angus McNae's Sunday Selections: This One Looks Special

Angus McNae reveals his four best bets ahead of a cracking day of racing.
Watch all the action from Carlisle, Exeter, Limerick and Naas - live and exclusive on Racing TV.

3.02 Exeter: Special John

Special John made his handicap debut over hurdles last time out and shaped well in finishing second of a mark of 91. He gets to race off the same mark and a repetition of that effort should see him win.
His RaceiQ jumping data marks him out as being a quick and efficient jumper of a hurdle with a career index of 7.9, having last time gained 12.59 lengths on his rivals.
This looks an excellent opportunity for him.

4.03 Limerick: Monbeg Park

Monbeg Park really got his act together last time out when winning a Listed contest at Leopardstown. That race has worked out strongly, recording a finishing speed percentage of 105.16%.
He also jumped really well that day. That has been a feature of his chasing career, which has garnered him a career jump index of 8.4 – a good deal better than these rivals have achieved.
Clearly in good form, he can make his jumping tell and win this Grade Three.

4.23 Naas: Trustyourinstinct

Trustyourinstinct may have needed the run when well beaten in Saudi recently and is likely to improve for it.
He holds the best piece of form in the race, having finished a neck second to Jan Brueghel at the Curragh last June, and followed that up with a second to Continuous at the same track.
He faces nothing of the calibre of those two here and, providing he has taken a step forward from Saudi, will be hard to beat.
Watch: Trustyourinstinct finish second to Jan Brueghel at the Curragh

5.30 Naas: Trinity College

Stands out as the class act in this field. On his last three starts he has recorded triple-digit speed figures and faced much stronger opposition on his last two starts in Graded company.
He was too keen on his final start of the season over nine furlongs at Leopardstown, when third in a Group Three, and is dropped in trip to a mile with the blinkers removed.
He can take advantage of this significant drop in grade
