Albigna set to return to action in Snow Fairy Fillies Stakes at the Curragh on Friday

Wed 26 Aug 2020

Group One winner Albigna is set to face nine rivals at the Curragh on Friday as she bids to get back to winning ways in the Snow Fairy Fillies Stakes, live on Racing TV at 3.10pm.

Jessica Harrington’s charge has not been seen since finishing sixth in the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas in June when sent off the 6-5 favourite.

However, Albigna’s rider, Shane Foley, believed the daughter of Zoffany was unsuited by the fast ground on that occasion and conditions should be more favourable on Friday judged by the forecast rain.

The three-year-old is clear on the ratings and is likely to be a short price as she steps back down to Group Three level.

So Wonderful - who will be having her seventeenth start – is one of two runners for Aidan O’Brien in the 1m1f contest, with the other being Lovelier who was narrowly denied at Group Two level in July.

Kiss For A Jewel produced a career best to finish a never-nearer third in the same race as Lovelier last time out and represents the in-form Dermot Weld.

Joseph O’Brien’s Thundering Nights has a bit to find on the ratings but is progressing and scored in good style over this trip at Leopardstown this month.

Lady Wannabe, Come September, Harriet's Force, Simply A Breeze and Epona Plays complete the ten-strong field.
