Aidan O'Brien: the inside track on my runners at the Curragh

Aidan O'Brien joined Johnny Ward, Ladbrokes' Nicola McGeady, Mark Boylan from the Irish Field and racingtv.com's Danny Archer during a special edition of On The Wire to provide the inside track on his powerful squad heading to the Curragh this weekend.
The Ballydoyle maestro is strongly represented in all the feature contests, including the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 and 2,000 Guineas plus will also unleash several exciting youngsters who he holds in high regard.
Ward also asked O'Brien for one horse to follow outside of the feature races to keep a close eye on, and his answer was a "nice colt" who runs on Saturday. Watch the full show below for some fascinating insight plus best bets for the weekend from our expert team.
Here's what Aidan O'Brien had to say about his key players across the two days:

Age Of Kings

Race: Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas.
It's his first run of the year, so we're hoping he'll run a nice race. Hopefully he'll go to Royal Ascot afterwards.

Cairo

Race: Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas.
Cairo will love the ground and he's in good shape. He hasn't run since March but the trip will suit him well. He's a tough, hardy horse and we're looking forward to seeing what he's going to do on that ground.
He didn't take to the track at Meydan and he didn't lose any weight. When he faced the kickback, we think he just shut down. We think that was the reason, anyway.

Democracy

Race: GAIN Marble Hill Stakes.

curragh

13:25 Curragh - Sunday April 16
Watch how Democracy scored on debut
He's by No Nay Never and they do handle dig in the ground, and he did when he won at the Curragh. He's got a high enough action, but he does travel with plenty of speed and we're going to learn a lot about him for Royal Ascot.
Everything has gone well with him since his debut win and he's a good, strong traveller. When Wayne (Lordan) asked him at the Curragh, he took a little big of time to get going but going to the line, he was well on top.

His Majesty

Race: GAIN Marble Hill Stakes.

curragh

13:50 Curragh - Monday May 1
His Majesty won a Listed contest on debut at the Curragh
He's a lazy horse at home. When they worked together (His Majesty and Democracy) during the week, Democracy came out on top, but maybe His Majesty keeps a bit to himself for when he goes racing. It will be interesting.
We're going to find out about faster ground for him as well and we're going to see how he finds six furlongs. It's going to tell us a lot for Royal Ascot.
At home, Democracy is a little bit ahead of him, but it was a little bit like that before he ran, so maybe His Majesty just does keep a bit.

Jackie Oh

Race: Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas.
She won her maiden nicely at Naas and we then went to Navan to see if she was going to be an Oaks filly, or a Guineas filly, and we said if she got beat at Navan, we would go back to the Irish Guineas, and if she didn't, she'd go for the Oaks at Epsom.
We can still go to the Oaks after this. Her brother didn't stay - he was a miler - so it's going to be interesting. She's come out of Navan well and is working very nicely. I also intend to run Dower House here.

Luxembourg

Race: Tattersalls Gold Cup.
Ryan (Moore) gave him a great ride in the Irish Champion Stakes last year. We're looking forward to him running and everything has gone well with him since his last run.
His comeback run was a bit of a mess, really. Visulisation was very good, and Declan McDonogh gave him a great ride. It was a steady enough race and he just got trapped back a little bit. He was at the mercy of the race, and that can happen sometimes. That's the way it was. It was only a trial, so it didn't matter really, and Wayne Lordan looked after him. We were very happy with his run.
It will be a different race, I imagine, on Sunday, although this race could become tactical because I don't think any of them will want to go on. It could suit a horse that can quicken.
It's his second run of the season, but he's a big, straightforward horse.

Meditate

Race: Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas.
I suppose the ground was soft at Newmarket when she ran in the QIPCO 1000 Guineas, and it was her first run back, but we were very happy with her run. She finished the race off very well and everything has gone well with her since. Everyone is very happy and we hope she's going to progress plenty from that run.

Paddington

Race: Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas.
Everything has been good with him. He's only had the two runs this year. He went to Ascot first time out last year where he was very green and we were a bit disappointed with him. We gave him a bit of time then and he came back and won very nicely at the Curragh. The ground was on the easy side that day and he obviously won the Madrid Handicap very easily at Naas on easy ground again.
His win in the Tetrarch Stakes was also on easy ground so it's going to be interesting on his first time back on quicker ground. We're very happy with what he's done since his latest win, it has all gone smoothly. His work and all his races have been a nice build-up to the Guineas and it's going to be interesting to see.
He's a big, scopey, good-looking horse. He's travelled with plenty of pace and we're learning about him all the time.
