1 Born on October 16, 1969 in County Wexford

2 Champion Trainer in Ireland a record 20 times.

3 Has trained a winner at all of Ireland’s tracks apart from Laytown - where they race just once a year on the beach.

4 “The Lads” who he quite often refers to are Mr & Mrs Michael Tabor, Mr & Mrs Derek Smith and Mr & Mrs John Magnier.

5 Many present licenced trainers have ridden a winner for O’Brien in the past; such as Neil Mullholland, Jamie Osborne, Christy Roche Johnny, Murtagh and Richard Hughes.

6 In 2012 Aidan and son Joseph became the first ever father/son partnership to win the Derby with Camelot.

7 British based jump jockey Tom O’Brien is Aidan’s nephew.

8 Aidan is a member of Pioneer Total Abstinence Association, which means for his whole life O’ Brien has never had a drop of alcohol.

11 He became Ireland’s youngest trainer in 1996 at the age of 26.

12 He has been eight times top trainer at Royal Ascot between 2001 and this year.

13 The sunglasses we often see him wearing actually play a big role in O’ Brien’s success as they are prescription.

14 All four of his children - Sarah, Ana, Donnacha and Joseph - have ridden a winner for him. His wife Annemarie has also ridden numerous winners for him.
