Danny Archer kept a close eye on last week's action at the Festival and nominates 12 runners to monitor over the coming weeks.
Bad
Talent was clearly evident as he went off well-backed in the Boodles. However, he was just far too keen and looked in need of the run. I was taken by his jumping and if connections can get him to settle he is still one to keep the right side of.
Bronn
Posted a career best to finish third in the Brown Advisory. I loved the way he jumped and attacked his fences and he lost nothing in defeat behind two smart rivals. He looks open to plenty more improvement.
Chemical Energy
Ran a huge race in the National Hunt Chase given he was badly hampered and plainly prefers quicker ground. He probably hit the front too soon, but has loads of scope and can improve further.
Diverge
Huge eye-catcher in the Supreme given the amount of ground he had to make up in the closing stages. Given his flat speed, he would be a fascinating runner at Aintree, but he is well worth following wherever he goes next.
Fastorslow
Ultimately came up a bit short in the Ultima and had been laid out for that race. However, I was taken with the manner of the effort, given that was just his third run over fences for new connections. Hopefully the handicapper is not too harsh as there could still be a big pot in him.
Gaelic Warrior
Huge effort to fill second in the Ballymore given how hard he pulled. Think connections can stay over two and a half or drop back down to two, but he clearly has latent ability and is still maturing.
cheltenham
16:50 Cheltenham - Thursday March 16
Magical Zoe
Has to go down as an unlucky loser in the Jack De Bromhead Mares' Novices' Hurdle given she was caught too far back in a race where it paid to be prominent. She flew home after being given a mountain to climb entering the home straight. Could be a very smart mare.
Mahler Mission
A case of what could have been when falling at the second-last in the National Hunt Chase. However, his jumping was electric up to that point and soft ground is clearly a key factor. He is not one to give up on.
Mr Freedom
His fifth in the Boodles can be marked up as his saddle slipped early and he was also struck into to during the race. He stayed on well in the closing stages and was one of the strongest finishers. A juvenile event is well within his compass.
cheltenham
14:10 Cheltenham - Friday March 17
Petit Tonnerre
Clearly talented, he is crying out for better ground and he could be a real player at one of the big spring festivals if there is good in the going description. Held up on this occasion, he did well to fill seventh in the County Hurdle and is not one to lose heart with.
Walking On Air
Was consistently denied a clear run at a crucial stage in the Pertemps and stayed on well up the hill to be fifth. He can still make his mark over hurdles and he could be an interesting one for Aintree.
Western Diego
Clearly has bundles of talent given he pulled ferociously, but was still in front at the furlong pole in the Champion Bumper. Badly hampered at that point, this was a huge effort in defeat and he will be a fascinating prospect over timber.

Paul Townend put the disappointment of Il Etait Temps’ crashing fall at Ascot behind him with a Sunday treble at Thurles, highlighted by a popular success for Appreciate It in the Horse & Jockey Hotel Chase.
It is almost five years since Appreciate It trounced the opposition by 24 lengths in the 2021 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham and he recently turned 12.
But having finished second to subsequent Savills Chase scorer Affordale Fury on his seasonal debut over this course and distance, he was an evens favourite to land this Grade Two prize for the second year in succession and produced an exhibition round of jumping to beat his stablemate James Du Berlais by 12 lengths.
Watch a full replay plus reaction from a delighted Townend.

Jade De Grugy stamped her class on the Grade Two Carey Glass Irish EBF Mares Novice Chase with a 18-length verdict.
This was a first success at the third attempt over fences for the mare who struck twice at Grade One level over fences.
She was a shade disappointing on her first two outings over the larger obstacles, but there was lots to like about this performance, and further improvement is likely this season.

Richard Johnson may never have won the Sky Bet Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock as a jockey but he roared home Imperial Saint in his family colours now used by the syndicate which carries his name.
Heavily backed from 16-1 overnight into 7-2, he arrived late on the scene under Callum Pritchard whose 3lb allowance proved crucial in the finish.
Ultima winner Myretown put the pace to the race and was still in front going seemingly well enough well taking the roots out of the third-last, costing him any chance.
The progressive Konfusion was left in front but Pritchard had stalked him on Imperial Saint, who still had to prove his stamina over three miles, while Brian Hughes was also trying to smuggle Richmond Lake into contention.
It was Imperial Saint, who previously had become a bit of an Aintree specialist, who had the most in the finish, beating Richmond Lake and Konfusion by a neck and two lengths.
He is trained in a partnership by Philip Hobbs with Johnson White and the latter said: “That’s a fantastic result, it’s a great team to be involved with, they are massively enthusiastic and they were the same when we won a maiden hurdle at Ludlow a few years ago!
“He had a entry in the Great Yorkshire Chase, but Dicky (Johnson) and I just thought the opposition and the track would suit him today, we chanced our luck and got away with it.
“Had it have been bottomless like it can be here, we might not have brought him, that might have brought his stamina into it but I just thought he might have more of a turn of foot than the others.
“Callum gave him a lovely ride and his 3lb proved vital. I’m delighted for Dicky, he was the syndicate’s first winner and some of them even own Myretown!
“We’ve just won the Peter Marsh so I’m not going to say we’ve reached our pinnacle but I think there’s still improvement to come.
“We’ll look at Aintree and I’m sure he’ll get an entry in the National.”
Johnson said: “I don’t think I rode the winner of this but I might have been at Ascot a fair few times.
“He’s been an amazing horse, he was the first we bought for the syndicate with Party Vibes and our first winner. We bought him as a fun horse, he’s certainly been that!
“He’s given the syndicate so much fun and he’s been perfect, he’s not that worried about ground, they’ve been to Cheltenham and Aintree and just about the only stipulation is he needs to go left-handed.
“Hopefully the handicapper won’t go too mad. I’m sure he’ll have an entry for the National but it’s whether he’ll get in. It’s definitely an option.
“I don’t think the owners would take much persuading, put it that way!”
Joel Parkinson said of Konfusion, who has a Gold Cup entry: “We were very pleased. It was a good run and I think the ground has just done us in the end. Saying that I think everything else in the race would want softer ground so we can’t complain. It was a solid run.
“We’ll check he’s all right in the morning then have a sit down and talk about future plans.”
Assistant trainer Peter Scudamore said of fourth-placed Myretown: “Your worry at Cheltenham was – was it a fluke? Then he fell at Newbury, but he’s shown he’s a good horse again. The mistake must have cost him a length and I just wish I could find a horse that doesn’t have any faults!
“He lives on the edge and made that mistake. That’s life. We entered him in the Gold Cup and boosted him up a bit. Had he won today I’d probably have gone for the Gold Cup, but I probably think the Ultima now.
“Whether we run before then or not I don’t know. Derek (Fox) said Aintree afterwards, he said he could have gone around again. He’ll have an entry in the National.”

Old Park Star shot to the head of the betting for the Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle with a devastating display at Haydock.
The sponsors of the Festival opener cut Nicky Henderson’s six-year-old to 11-4 from 7-1 after he dealt with some smart rivals with ease in the Grade Two Rossington Main.
Henderson, who has won this race with Jonbon and Jeriko Du Reponet recently, looks to have another smart youngster on his hands in the mould of Altior and Shishkin, and Old Park Star certainly has the size and scope about him to go jumping fences.
Nico de Boinville, riding his first winner since his return from injury, bounced into an early lead and while Hurricane Pat, a smart horse in his own right, tried to keep tabs, it was clear early in the straight he was struggling.
The 4-5 favourite coasted close home, but still won by 18 lengths.
“He was so professional. If anything was going to beat him it was going to be the track today and that is why his turn of foot was so devastating really,” said De Boinville.
“I couldn’t ask for anything more, I’m delighted with the horse and he’s got such a massive future ahead of him.
“He’s so straightforward, he knows exactly where his feet are but I wanted to give him a race at the same time as it’s six weeks to the Festival.
“It was the plan to load it up as much as we could and then see what we had, but he stays so well. I was worried about the track, but I’ve no worries now.”
He added: “Not many win like that, so I’m delighted, and ground doesn’t seem to bother him. I really like this horse.”
